It is time to respect this sacred window.

Traditional postpartum care has been all but lost in our culture.  It is time to reclaim this sacred space and right of passage. Pregnancy, birth and ever since (are we ever really out of post-partum, mama?) have been the most powerful learning experiences of my life. About myself, about Ayurveda, about my spiritual path.

In the Ayurveda tradition, 40 days post partum is talked about as ‘Kaya Kalpa.’ This means, literally, ‘body time’.  I have also learned to call it the ‘scared window.’ There are actually more than one Kaya Kalpa in a woman’s life: One is after her first period, after her marriage, and for all humans, after a loved one passes away.  These may be more old-fashioned, or cultural, but I think any woman can agree what huge shifts, what integration is needed during these times – and can probably imagine how different her experience might have been if that space were honored with a moment to rest, think, and perhaps more, be celebrated.

Kaya kalpa is said to also be a time when the veils between worlds are thinner. Intuition and awareness might be stronger, or more sharp or subtle let’s say.  Our emotions might be heightened, so we can take less bullshit, and speak our truth more clearly. This may not be so easy for those around us, as well. We are all connected, and especially our family and partner, they are also experiencing an integration time.

In this introductory class you will learn:

Ayurvedic perspective on postpartum

Best foods for postpartum

What to include in your postpartum care plan

I have used all of the tools and information I will share in this class on my own journey into and through 2 conscious conceptions, pregnancies and births and postpartum times – and I have learned a lot along the way. I share from my teachers, as well as my own experiences. If this style of learning is for you, join us for class.
